Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service is a continuation of the Nickel & Diehl Funeral Service which began serving Sheboygan area families in 1892 from the original location at 1520 Calumet Drive.
In 1932, the name was changed to Nickel's Funeral Home and moved to the present location at 1132 Superior Ave. The building has had many renovations over the years, beginning as a stately private home as pictured above.

The East Chapel was added in the mid-1950's.


The house next door to the funeral home was purchased and torn down to make a parking lot.
In 1990, an addition to make the funeral home handicap accessible, was completed
The funeral home was owned and operated by Jacob and Meta Nickel. Meta was the first woman licensed as a funeral director in the State of Wisconsin in 1934. Jacob died in 1967 and, in 1969, Roland E. Lippert was hired as funeral director and manager.
Roland assumed ownership of the funeral home in 1976 and it became Nickel-Lippert Funeral Home. Meta Nickel retired that year. On August 1, 2001, the funeral home stock was sold to James M. Olson. Shortly after, the name was changed to the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
