Yvonne "Vonnie" E. Gorr

Yvonne E. "Vonnie" Gorr, 89, of Sheboygan, passed away Saturday evening, November 4, 2023 at Countryside Manor surrounded by her family.
Born July 27, 1934 in Stockbridge, WI, Yvonne was a daughter of the late George and Leona Harder Schmeiser. She attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1952. On November 21, 1953, she was united in marriage to Harold W. Gorr at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. They were married for 69 years before Harold preceded her in death on May 17, 2023.
Vonnie worked at numerous banks as a teller in the Sheboygan area over her 15 year career. She was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she served on the Alter Guild, was a member of the Agape Circle, attended Wednesday Bible Class and taught Catechism. She also volunteered as a teachers aid at St. Paul's School and coached girls volleyball and softball. In her youth, she was a member of the Sheboygan Turners Gymnastic Club. When her children were younger, she volunteered as a project leader for the Sheboygan Busy Bees 4-H Club. Harold and Vonnie enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and playing Sheepshead and poker. She also liked baking, sewing, crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family and friends, and her granddog, Snowball.
She is survived by her children, Terri (Dan) Howard, Danbury, WI, Jeffrey (Diane) Gorr, Sheboygan, Pamela (James) Wilbert, Kiel, and James Gorr, Sheboygan; seven grandchildren, Chad (Jessica) Howard, Kyle Howard, Kaitlin (Zach Nienaber) Howard, Jacob Gorr, Addison (Ashley Kipp) Wilbert, Nicholas (Kelly) Wilbert, and Tiffany (Mike) Wieser; seven great grandchildren; her brother, Gerry (Susan) Schmeiser, Philips; her sisters-in-law, Virginia Schmeiser, Janet Gorr and Janice Schmeiser; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Harold, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Kermit and Richard Schmeiser; her sister, Gloria Gordon; her brothers-in-law, Melvin and Carl Gorr; and her sister-in-law, Marion Seibold.
Funeral services for Yvonne will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 1810 N. 13th Street, Sheboygan. Pastor Alan Kretschmar will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Countryside Manor and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
