Wilma M. Meyer

April 17, 1919 — May 7, 2013

Wilma Welsch Meyer, age 94, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 8th. For the past several years she resided at Sunny Ridge, and prior to that she had been a resident of Harmony House. Wilma was born April 17, 1919, and was the daughter of Gottleib and Anna Herman Welsch. A life-long resident of Sheboygan, Wilma attended Trinity Lutheran Church, and joined St. John's United Church of Christ when she married Harold Peter Meyer in l940. Mr. Meyer preceded her in death in l985. She had been employed over the years in the offices of Wagner's Sheboygan Sausage Company, Grasse Bros. Oil Co., and JC Penney. She very much enjoyed the work world and being out with people. At her church, she had been a member of the Women's Guild. Wilma enjoyed music her whole life, and recently received great comfort from listening and singing to the old hymns. She also received great comfort and support from her friend, Cleo, who read the Bible to her daily, and her Stephen Minister, Peggy, who listened to and prayed with her. Her son, Harold Gene Meyer, preceded her in death, as did her great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Meyer. Wilma is survived by her son, Stanley (Lois) Meyer of Kiel; her daughter, Sandra (Raymond) Laabs of Flossmoor, Illinois; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Meyer, of Arnold, Maryland. Wilma was blessed with and leaves behind six grandchildren: Tracy (Allen) Klein; Aaron (January) Meyer; Cathie Meyer-Montgomery (James); Gene (Tammy) Meyer, Karyn (Eric) Bart, and Eric (Melissa) Laabs; 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Private services were held at Lippert Olson Funeral Home, followed by interment next to her husband at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Memorials can be made to the Women's Guild, St. John UCC, in Sheboygan. Her family sincerely thanks the staffs at Harmony House, Sunny Ridge, and the Visiting Nurse Association-Hospice, and Chaplain Marianne Brandt for the care, love, and support they gave to her.
