William Wangemann (90) passed away Friday January 30th, 2026, after a brief illness.
Bill was born in Sheboygan, November 14th, 1935, to the late Arno Wangemann and Lydia Wirtz.
He attended and graduated from local schools.
Bill married Tammy Burt July 2, 1955. Tammy proceeded him in death in May of 2004. Bill then married Joy Hussey; she proceeded him in death in April of 2024.
Bill was a Police Officer for the city of Sheboygan for 28 years during that time he worked as an EMT, police photographer, police artist, and crime scene investigator.
Bill served two terms as an Alderman for the city of Sheboygan. He also served on the board for the Sheboygan Press, the County Museum, the Mead Public Library, and The Sheboygan County Historical society. Bill was proud of his title of Historian for the city of Sheboygan. He was the driving force behind the recovery and Display of the ship the Lottie Cooper.
Bill was very interested in the history of Sheboygan and the Great Lakes and wrote four books based on Sheboygan History.
Bill is survived by his daughter's Kim, and Stacy, his 6 grandchildren Nick, Chris, Jon and Adam (Chelsie) Kollmann and William and Samantha Gottschalk. He is further survived by his 3 great grandsons, Dacota, Elijah, and Dimitri Kollmann.
Bill was proceeded in death by his Parents, his son Garth, his brother Jim, and his sisters Margaret, and Barbara, as well as many friends.
The family wishes to Thank Meadow view Manor and its employees for the endless love and kindness shown to Bill.
We also wish to thank Olson Funeral home for the kindness they have shown us in getting Bill laid to rest.
Per Bills request there will be no funeral, a celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later date.
