Willard H. Lang, 88, of Sheboygan, went to his heavenly home on Friday morning, June 5, 2015 at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center where he had been residing. Born December 26, 1926 in Sheboygan Falls, Willard was a son of the late Tobias and Mary Arthofer Lang. He attended Sheboygan Falls area grade schools and graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1944. He then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946, serving in the Asiatic Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Colonial, LSD-18. Upon returning to Wisconsin, he continued his education at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. On September 14, 1949, he was united in marriage to Diane L. Stuefen at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. The couple celebrated 65 years of marriage this past September, 2014. Willard worked for Wisconsin Power and Light Co. for 37 years, retiring as a Commercial Rural Rep in 1987. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church where he served as a former deacon and belonged to the R&R Senior Group. He was also a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 15, where he served as past Commander and past Adjutant and Chaplain. He was active in Boy Scout Troop 45, Cub Scout Pack 45, Explorer Post 45, and as an advisor and assistant scout leader. He also participated in Partners in Reading. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, and was a dog lover but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Diane; his children, Gary (Kathleen) Lang, Whitefish Bay, Richard (Jean) Lang, Wausau, David (Julie) Lang, Sheboygan, and twins, Mark Lang and Mary (Randy) Chapman, both of Sheboygan; 10 grandchildren, Marika Lang, Eliot Lang, Amara (Maher) Al-Barati, Christian Lang, Matthew Lang, Adam Lang, Elise (Paul) Gessler, Evan Lang, Allison Lang and Andrew Chapman; his sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (Donald) Ahrens and Betty Stuefen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Eleanore (Walter) Kuhlow, Frieda (Herbert) Hasenstein, Hilda (Roland) Kelling, and his brother-in-law, Richard (Kathryn) Stuefen. Funeral services for Willard will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 1019 N. 7th Street. Pastor Brett Matz will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment with full Military Honors will take place in Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in his name. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Sheboygan Progressive Care Center, St. Nicholas Home Health & Hospice and the Veteran's Administration for all of their concern and compassionate care.
