Violet E. Lewis, 96, of Sheboygan, passed away Saturday evening, September 8, 2018 at Sunny Ridge Health & Rehabilitation Center where she had been residing the past five years.
Born June 16, 1922 in Sheboygan, Violet was a daughter of the late Harvey and Viola Fink Wolters. She attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Central High School in 1940. She proudly served her country in the U.S. Marines during WWII. On June 26, 1945, Violet was united in marriage to Earl R. Lewis in San Diego, CA. They were married for 48 years before Earl preceded her in death in 1993.
Violet was the head cashier at Piggly Wiggly for many years before her retirement. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards and bingo. She also enjoyed watching her beloved Packers and Brewers on TV.
She is survived by her daughters-in-law, Karen Lewis, Sheboygan, and Jean Lewis, Sheboygan; her three grandchildren, Cari (Aaron) Anger, Sheboygan, Kim Lewis, Sheboygan Falls, and Sean Lewis, Chicago; two great grandsons, Jason and Ryan Anger, Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Earl, she was preceded in death by her two sons, James and David Lewis, her grandson, Tom Lewis, and her sisters, Betty (Roy) Hayner and Lucille (Harold) Lorenz.
According to her wishes, private family services will take place.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Sunny Ridge and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
