Thomas R. Mehlberg, 79, of Sheboygan, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice surrounded by his family.
Born February 5, 1938 in Sheboygan, Thomas was a son of the late Raymond and Florence Grade Mehlberg. He attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Central High School. On October 4, 1958, he was united in marriage to Sharon M. Katte at St. Mark Church in Sheboygan.
Tom worked for Wisconsin Power & Light for 24 years before his retirement in 1998. He previously worked for the Kingsbury Brewery for 18 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking, making special items for family members. He also made wood plank model ships and his 18' cabin cruiser which was his pride and joy. He was an avid sports fan but especially the Chicago Cubs. In later years, he enjoyed Oneida bingo and slots. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sharon; his three daughters, Pamela (R.Timothy) Friese, Sheboygan Falls, Lauren (Carl Horness) Wick, Sheboygan, and Vicki (Ron Mech) Mehlberg, Sheboygan; five grandchildren, Brandon (Cassi) Friese, Waldo, Chad (Krista) Friese, Sheboygan Falls, Tami (Matthew) Gail, Canton, MO, Renee (Taylor) Weinberger) Sheboygan, and Tracy Wick, Duluth, MN; eleven great grandchildren; his sister, Sharon (Kenneth) Thimmig, Oostburg; his step brother, Wally (Grace) Reklaitis, Sheboygan; his sister-in-law, Susan (Daryl) Gabsch, Sheboygan Falls; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Florence Mehlberg, his step mother, Stanza Reklaitis, his in-laws, Edgar and Althea Katte and his niece, Susan Thimmig Kaesermann.
According to his wishes, there will be no public visitation or service.
The family would like to thank the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, Dr. Tocco the attending emergency room physician, and Aurora Memorial Medical Center 2K for all of their loving care and support.
