Stuart G. Johnson, 89, of Sheboygan, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Meadowview Manor in Sheboygan.
Born June 26, 1928 in Sheboygan, Stuart was a son of the late Timothy and Helen Berg Johnson. He attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from North High School in 1946. He continued his education at Lakeshore Technical College. On June 30, 1951, he was united in marriage to Delores Ann Holzhausen in Sheboygan. They were married for 66 years before Delores preceded him in death on July 8, 2017.
Stuart was a mechanic at High Speed Oil for many years. He then worked at Meadowview Manor in the maintenance department until his retirement in 1993. For many years, he owned and operated The Fun Spot Miniature Golf and Go Karts. He also worked as a locksmith on the side. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking and coin collecting. He also enjoyed trips to the casinos. Every year, he took the kids and the grandkids up north to a cottage on a lake.
He is survived by his three sons, Scot (Lindsay) Johnson, Jeff (Heidi) Johnson and Gary (Robin Schubert) Johnson, all of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Jason (Meredith) Johnson, Sayville, NY, Jennifer (Dave) Scheel, Plymouth, April (Dan) Soerens, Plymouth, and Kelly (Matt Sandner) Kau, Sheboygan; eight great grandchildren; his brother, Tom (Sue) Horn, Oostburg; his sister, Marie Uttech, Wauwatosa; his sisters-in-law, Sandy Johnson, Manitowoc, and Janet Johnson, Rantoul, IL, Nancy (Robert) Schmidt, Louisburg, NC, and Susan (Robert) Glaeser, Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is further survived by his super cat "Spooky".
Besides his parents and wife, Delores, he was preceded in death by his step father, Lester, Horn, and his two brothers, Jim and Ted Johnson.
Funeral services for Stuart will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 21, 2017 at the Chapel of Eternal Light of Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6706 Superior Avenue, Kohler. The Rev. Roger Mealiff will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the chapel on Monday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place in the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Stuart's arrangements.
