Steve Larson, 82 years old, of Sheboygan, WI, was reunited in eternal rest with his beloved wife, Katy, on September 27, 2025.
Born on December 9, 1942, in Sheboygan, Steve graduated from North High School and went on to earn a degree in Economics from Ripon College. Following his studies, Steve proudly served his country in the Army Reserves as a Military Police Officer, carrying out his duty with quiet dignity.
On September 4, 1965, Steve married his cherished wife, Katy, at St. Giles Episcopal Church in Northbrook, IL. Married nearly 60 years, they raised a family grounded in love, devotion, and an unwavering faith that carried them through life’s joys and challenges.
Steve dedicated over four decades of his professional life to Bemis Manufacturing, retiring as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. Even in retirement, Steve remained a trusted voice, sharing his insights and guidance as a valued consultant. Steve’s visionary leadership and commitment to innovation helped drive the company’s success and inspired all who worked alongside him.
His heart for service extended far beyond the workplace. At Grace Episcopal Church, Steve helped create and lead the Grace Walsingham Foundation with reverence and purpose. As a trustee of the Diocese of Fond du Lac, he was a steady presence, respected and beloved.
Steve also devoted over 50 years to the Sheboygan County YMCA, playing a pivotal role in its growth and impact. He was instrumental in the development of the Sheboygan Falls YMCA, including serving as Board Chairman, leading capital campaigns that raised millions for new facilities, and guiding strategic planning at the county level. His leadership earned him two Wisconsin State YMCA Key Leadership Awards and the Sheboygan County YMCA Lifetime Service Award, though he never sought the spotlight. His impact was profound, inspiring countless YMCA leaders and staff through his guidance and passion.
A lifelong supporter of Wisconsin sports teams, Steve especially loved the Packers and the Brewers. He attended many Brewers home openers with his brother Richard, always celebrating with a brat and a beer in hand. Steve found great joy in hosting family gatherings at Timberlane Farm, their beautiful home for nearly 25 years. The farm was a labor of love where he meticulously tended to the land with care and pride, creating a peaceful haven where many memories were made. He took great joy in watching his grandchildren ride the Gator, play bocce ball and croquet, explore the trails he groomed, and gather around the grill. These moments will be treasured and carried forward by all who were fortunate to share them.
Above all, Steve was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandson. He never missed a chance to cheer on milestones big and small, and his greatest pride was watching his next generation shine.
He is survived by his children, David (Missy) Larson, Port Washington, and his twins, Kärin Jensen and Kristin Larson, both of Fox Point; five grandchildren, Benjamin (fiancé Jordan Counihan) Larson, Port Washington, Jack Larson, St. Louis, MO, Alexander Jensen, St. Paul, MN, Abigail Jensen (Mike Kreutzinger), great grandson, Jensen Charles, Lannon, WI, and Lily Jensen, Chicago, IL; sister, Linda Ottensman, brother, Richard (Kristin) Bemis, and sister, Mary Louise "Lulu" (Joel) Lubbers, brother- in-law, James Schreiber, all of Sheboygan; sister- in- law, Jane Mrochinski, Waterloo, WI, and many nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Katy; mother Josephine Bemis, step father, Francis vK Bemis, father, Malcolm Larson; sisters, Sarah Jo Mabey, Patricia Schreiber, Catherine Stayer; brother, Peter F. Bemis; brother-in-law Thomas Ottensman; sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Burt) King; nephews, Austen Bemis, Benjamin Schmidt, and niece Sarah Schmidt.
A private family service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church in Sheboygan at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Grace Church through the Grace Walsingham Foundation or the Sheboygan County YMCA.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. S. Mark Bettag and his staff, Froedtert Hospital staff, St. Nicholas staff, Rocky Knoll staff, and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their compassionate care.
