Ruth L. Vollrath Braun

Ruth L Vollrath Braun, age 84 of Sheboygan passed away Monday December 11, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born March 28, 1933 in Appleton to Dr. Ralph and Pearl Landis. She graduated from Carleton College with a major in Sociology. She also had a BS Degree from the University of Nebraska in Elementary Education. She taught in Lincoln, NE for 2 years and 2 years in Wisconsin - the last in Sheboygan. She went on to sub in various elementary schools and teaching at the rehab center. On June 15, 1963 she married Carl P. Vollrath - he died January 11, 1986. On April 30, 1988 she married R. John Braun.

Ruth volunteered with several organizations, she served on the board of the Sheboygan Theater Co., Girl Scouts of Manitou Council and was president of the 1907 Club for 4 years. Ruth was in her 40th year as a friend of Bill W. She loved swimming and had over 6,500 miles at the Y swim for your life, her biggest challenge was getting donations for the new 1907 Club (built in 1989). Ruth is survived by her husband R. John, son Carl (Lynn) Vollrath and daughter Ellen (Musonda Chisambisha) Vollrath. 4 step children; Debbie (Don) Anders, Dan (Liz) Braun, Bob (Maggie) Braun and Dave (Gina) Braun. 5 grandchildren and one great grand son.

She was preceded in death by a sister and brother in law, a sister in law and her husband Carl P. Vollrath.

Ruth was a member of Fountain Park United Methodist Church.

In accordance with Ruth's wishes, funeral services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the 1907 Club would be appreciated.

Ruth's family would like to thank all who helped with her disease of Pulmonary Hypertension, Alcoholism and rehab.
