Ruth E. Stegemeyer, 95, of Sheboygan passed away Monday evening, August 18, 2014 at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center. Born November 12, 1918 in Sheboygan, Ruth was a daughter of the late Phillip and Anna Markgraf Eirich. She attended area schools and graduated from Sheboygan High School in 1936. On November 21, 1936, she was united in marriage to Arno C. Stegemeyer at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. They were married for 61 years before Arno preceded her in death on July 9, 1998. Ruth was a seamstress at Lakeland Manufacturing for 27 years before she retired in 1980. She previously worked at the H.C. Prange Company. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was active in the Mother's Club, the P.T.A. and the church choir. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and doing crossword puzzles. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Hurst, Greenfield, WI, three grandchildren, Tamara Winter, Sultan, WA, Kimberly Apadoca, Portland, OR and Shellie (Charles) Lurquin, Kenosha, WI; six great grandchildren, Sabrina, Ian, Jacob, James, Taylor and Jeffree; and her sister, Anna Gross, Fond du Lac. Besides her parents and husband Arno, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen Jacobson; her two sons-in-law, Richard Hurst and Clifford Jacobson; six sisters and two brothers. Funeral services for Ruth will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. The Rev. Alan Kretschmar will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Park. A memorial fund has been established in her name for St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Sheboygan Progressive Care Center for all of their loving care and support.
