Ruth C. Guenther

April 18, 1925 — October 21, 2014

Ruth C. Guenther, 89, formerly of Sheboygan, passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 21, 2014 at Libby's House in Plymouth where she had been residing. Born April 18, 1925 in Sheboygan, Ruth was a daughter of the late Peter and Bertha Casper Wilberscheid. She attended St. Peter Claver Catholic grade school and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1943. On October 5, 1946, she was united in marriage to Gordon W. Guenther at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. They were married for 41 years before Gordon preceded her in death in on January 21, 1988. Ruth worked for H&R Block and Bast Accounting in Sheboygan for many years, retiring in 1990. She previously worked for the Vollrath Company. Ruth lived through the great depression and her life was shaped by it. She learned that the most important things in life are irreplaceable; time spent with family and service to others. She volunteered at Holy Name Church. She always put her family first and took pride watching her children and grandchildren grow into a family she was proud of. She had a heart filled with love that she shared with the world. And, although her drive for adventure took her traveling around the world, she knew that home is where the heart is, with her family and friends. She enjoyed countless hours sewing and many beautiful days tending her garden. She was a brilliant cook and her recipes have been passed down to her children and grandchildren. She showed her spirit as she rooted for her favorite baseball team, the Brewers. She was a wife to a husband that she loved deeply. She was a role model for all of the family to look up to. And, with her kind smile and soul, she touched the lives of everyone in her life. She is survived by her children, Mildred (Michael) Pungercar, Springfield, OR, Randall (Maria) Guenther, Jacksonville, FL, Marlene Guenther, Sheboygan, Stephen (Lynne) Guenther, Sheboygan, Patricia (Mark) Rudolph, Menasha, Russell (Marilee) Guenther, Plymouth and Laura (Thomas) Ehrenreich, Sheboygan; fourteen grandchildren; and two great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Ronald Guenther, AZ; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Besides her parents and her husband, Gordon, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Daniel; her sisters, Lucille (Melvin) Meyer, Dorothy (Joe) Ausavich, Marie (Bill) Bartzen and Lorraine Wilberscheid; her brother, Jerome (Mildred) Wilberscheid; and two sisters-in-law, Charlotte (Lester) Schild and Sylvia (Glen) Spira. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 835 Huron Avenue. The Rev. Matthew Widder, pastor, will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in her name. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and Libby's House for all of the loving care and support. The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Ruth's arrangements.
