Ruth A. White, 93, of Sheboygan, passed away Thursday afternoon, May 29, 2025, at Discovery Commons in Brookfield, WI, where she had been residing.
Born September 20, 1931, in Sheboygan, Ruth was a daughter of the late George and Lydia Meyer Elsesser. She attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Sheboygan North High School. On December 12, 1970, she was united in marriage to Kenneth C. White at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. They were married for 39 years before Ken preceded her in death on December 20, 2009.
Ruth worked for the Spiller Spring Company for 32 years before her retirement in January of 1992. She previously worked for the Kohler Company. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Women's Mission Society. She enjoyed spending time doing crafts. After retiring, Ruth enjoyed volunteering at the Bethesda Thrift Store. She loved her dogs. Happy, her lifelike companion dog, brought her great joy and comfort. She took Happy on her walker everywhere she went, and he was at her side when she passed.
She is survived by her son, James (Claire) Elsesser, Waukesha; and two grandchildren, Jason (Holly) Gruenke and Jessica Gruenke; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and her husband, Ken, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Gruenke; and eleven brothers and sisters.
Per Ruth’s wishes there will be no memorial service. There will be a private family burial where she and Cheryl will be buried together. Her favorite charities were veteran and pet organizations. If you would like to honor her memory, please make a donation to a local pet or veteran related charity in your area.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Discovery Commons and Legacy Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
