Ruth A. Hartmann, 90, of Sheboygan, passed away Thursday morning, March 26, 2015. Born May 31, 1924 in Sheboygan, Ruth was a daughter of the late Arthur and Clara Siefert Handrow. She attended Holy Name Catholic School and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1942. On September 28, 1946, she was united in marriage to Melvin A. Hartmann at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. They were married for 58 years before Melvin preceded her in death on February 17, 2005. Ruth was a secretary for many years at Lightfoot School and the Visiting Nurses Association. She had previously worked at the H.C. Prange Company and during the war, she worked at the Kohler Company. She was a member of the Elizabeth Circle at Zion Church and a member of the Sheboygan County Homemakers. She was also a "Foster Grandma" for the school system for over ten years. She enjoyed sewing, word puzzles, baking, playing cards and was an avid reader. She also loved to travel but her greatest joy was spending time with her family and working with her kids at school. She is survived by her children, Richard (Becky Anonich) Hartmann, Spooner, WI, Kay (Gary) Fick, Sheboygan, Sue (Kevin) Jaehnke, Sheboygan, Jim (Kathy) Hartmann, Kohler, WI; eight grandchildren, Joshua (Nicole) Hartmann, Charlotte, NC, Noah Anonich, Spooner, WI, Kelly (Corby) Henkel, Freedom, WI, Tim (Ashley Reifschneider) Fick, DePere, Jacob (Fiancé Katie Bartholomew) Jaehnke, Sheboygan, Marty Jaehnke, Sheboygan, Nicholas Hartmann, Kohler, and Emily Hartmann, Sheboygan Falls; four great grandchildren, Gavin and Violet Mae Hartmann and Owen and Sidney Henkel; two brothers-in-law, Ralph (Pearl) Hartmann, Sheboygan, and Arthur Koeser, Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and her husband, Melvin, she was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Goebel. Funeral services for Ruth will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. The Rev. Andy Hopp will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place in the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum. A memorial fund has been established in her name. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Golden Living Center for all of their loving care and support.
