Russell L. Isferding, 78, of Sheboygan, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018 at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee surrounded by his family.
Born November 19, 1939 in Burlington, WI, Russell was a son of the late Leo and Alice Scoville Isferding. He attended and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School where he excelled at basketball. On September 29, 1962, he was united in marriage to Helen M. Helgert at St. Charles Catholic Church in Burlington.
Russell was a bartender at the Main Corner for many years before his retirement. He enjoyed traveling and building model airplanes. He also loved to cook and go to the casinos.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen; his two children, John Isferding, Milwaukee, and Christine Isferding, Sheboygan; his grandson, Nick (Stephanie Aldag) Isferding; and two great grandchildren, Reasheall Zamora and Lila Isferding. He is further survived by in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Marge (Cletus) May and Joan Lois, and his beloved dog, Maynerd.
Funeral services for Russell will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2018, at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. Fr. Gideon Buya will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Lyons, WI.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Sheboygan Memorial Hospital and St. Luke's Medical Center for all of their loving care and support. They would also like to thank the many family friends for all of your support.
As a bartender, he will always be remembered for his famous line, "Last call for alcohol" and "You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here!"
