Rozlyn M. Altenberger

Rozlyn M. Altenberger, age 87 of Sheboygan passed away Monday February 19, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

Roz was born February 15, 1931 in Haiku, Hawaii to Angi and Kamado (Kuba) Takushi. She grew up in Hawaii and attended school there. She came to Sheboygan in 1957. On February 14, 1958 she was united in marriage to James Altenberger in Sheboygan. She owned and operated Roz's Draperies for over 25 years, retiring in 1993. Roz most enjoyed being with her family. She also enjoyed baking, cooking, reading and sewing.

Roz is survived by her husband of 60 years James, her children, Terri (Scott) Altenberger-Knapp, Jerry (Nina) Altenberger and Lori Altenberger, grandchildren; Anthony (Katie) Knapp, Christa (Josh Contreras) Altenberger, James Altenberger, Zach (Amber) Dobson and Andrew Rivas, and her 6 great grandchildren; Armani, Amaya, Blake, Dane, Allison and Landon, her sister Jean Silva, brothers, Yasuhiko Takushi and Yasuyuki (Nita) Takushi, sisters-in-law, Donna (Michael) Sertich and Charlene (Jack) Welsch, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, her parents, her sisters, Lorraine (Ralph) Fushikoshi, Kay (Robert) Ajimine, her brother Yasutoshi Takushi, her brother-in-law, Bernard Silva and sisters-in-law Marian Takushi and Bonnie (Louie) Deprair.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 23, 2018 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 13th Street and Lincoln Ave., Sheboygan. The Rev. Greg Whelton will officiate. Family and friends may call at the church from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.

Roz's family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all of their loving care and support.

A memorial fund has been established in her name.

The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation service has been entrusted with Roz's arrangements.
