Ronald D. Kober, 79, of N. 15th Street, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday evening, March 11, 2014 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Born January 16, 1935 in Sheboygan, Ronald was a son of the late David and Molly Eirich Kober. He attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Central High School in 1953. He then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958. On May 10, 1958, he was united in marriage to Judith E. Ruppel at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Ron was the last milk home delivery man in Sheboygan and worked for Verifine Dairy for many years. He also worked for the Kohler Co., Lake to Lake and retired from the Lear Corp. After his retirement, he worked as the parking lot attendant at Boston Store for many years. He was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. He played softball with the Sheboygan Softball Association and also coached little league for many years. He was an avid fisherman, fishing from the pier in Lake Michigan and also enjoyed playing cribbage. He loved music, especially German music, listening to the Continental Sound Machine with Dieter Helm and was a people person who loved hanging out on the front porch with his "Porch Geezers." He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judith; his four children, Daniel (Debbie) Kober, Kristin (Steve) Schmitz, Kimberly (Ernie) Ruiz, all of Sheboygan, and Kari (Doug) Jacoby, Fox Lake, WI; 5 grandchildren, Elizabeth (fiancé Anthony) Kober, Justine and Aaron Schmitz, and Jonathan and Anna Ruiz, all of Sheboygan; a great grandson, Gauge Kober, and one great grandson due in June; his brothers and sisters, Marilyn (Ronald) DeKarske, FL, William (Roxie) Kober, Jefferson, Robert (Dawn) Kober, Jefferson, Thomas (Dora) Kober, Janesville, Gary (Karen) Kober, VA, Sherry (Thomas) Baalke, Sheboygan, and Linda (Wayne) Thiel, Sheboygan; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy Kober, a great granddaughter, Emily Allen and his brother Mark Kober. Funeral services for Ron will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. The Rev. Alan Kretschmar, pastor of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Sheboygan will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place in Garden Terrace Mausoleum. A memorial fund has been established in his name for St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church and School in Sheboygan The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Golden Living and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
