Robert J. Grimins, 92, of Sheboygan, passed away early Saturday morning, November 15, 2014 at Meadow View Manor Nursing Home where he had been residing. Born October 16, 1922 in Avis, Clinton County Pennsylvania, Robert was a son of the late Frank and Helen Schaefer Grimins. He grew up in Jersey Shore, PA, where he also attended school. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving during W.W.II. Following the service, he was united in marriage to June A. Knuth in Shorewood, WI. They were married for 40 years before June preceded him in death on January 28, 1987. Bob was a machinist for Evenrude Motors in Milwaukee until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of Immanuel Bible Church and the V.F.W. Post 9156. Bob was an avid bowler and enjoyed working in his yard and in his workshop. His charismatic personality and love of people drew him to activities at the Sheboygan Senior Center. He loved singing and always had a song in his heart. You would often find him whistling his favorite tunes. He also loved attending the worship service at Meadow View Manor and enjoyed a good old fashioned hymn sing the day before he died. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his four children, Steve Grimins, Phyllis (Ted) Hochenauer and Lloyd (Judith) Grimins, all of Sheboygan, and Denise Grimins, Winterville, GA; fifteen grandchildren, Sharon (Jeff) Ulsberger, Ben (DeAnn) Dean, John (Peggy) Grimins, Stephanie (Dave) Payton, Nate (Nicole) Grimins, Joshua Grimins, Jeremy (Marie) Grimins, Hannah Bessert, Jessica Grimins, Spencer Carpenter, Jacob Carpenter, Jesse Mansker, Jordan Mansker, Jennifer (Jevon) Lyke and Rodney (Nicole) Orton; 31 great grandchildren; and his sisters, Arline Randolph and Lila Kastigar; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is further survived by his former daughter-in-law, Judy Grimins. Beside his parents and wife, June, he was preceded in death by an infant son, James Robert, two brothers, Danny and Ward, and a great grandson, Riley. A memorial service for Robert will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. The Revs. Paul Tautges and Curt Lamansky will co-officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Batavia, WI. A memorial fund has been established in his name. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Meadow View Manor and St. Nicholas Home Health & Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
