Richard Alan Van Haveren

Richard Alan Van Haveren, 84, of Sheboygan, passed away early Thursday morning, January 26, 2023 at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center.
Born July 27, 1938 in Sheboygan, Richard was a son of the late Cornelius, Jr. and Sarah Lanser Van Haveren. He attended Sheboygan Christian School and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1956. He then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy followed by 13 years in the U.S. Naval Reserves. Following his service, he continued his education at Madison Business College. On June 17, 1966, he was united in marriage to Sharon J. Carr at First Methodist Church in Sheboygan.
Rich worked at Bitter Neumann from 1972 until his retirement in July of 2002. He previously worked at Dunn & Bradstreet in Milwaukee. He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church where he served on various committees. He enjoyed reading and exploring the internet.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon; his children, Mari Lin (Christopher Chappell) Van Haveren, Madison, and Rick (Amy) Van Haveren, Alpharetta, GA; his six grandchildren; Austin (fiancé' Emily Tiedemann), Harris and Colton Chappell, Susanna, Miles and Clarissa Van Haveren; his brother, Wesley Van Haveren; brother-in-law, John Stephen; sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Howard) Kusler; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is further survived by his best friend, Tom Buteyn.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene (Carol), Raymond (Jane), James (Joyce), David, and an infant brother; and his sister, Jane Stephen.
Private family services will be held. Entombment will take place in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
A memorial fund has been established in his name for St. Luke UMC or a charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Johnson, Jessica Murphy, Dr. Marshall Matthews, St. Nicholas (Fresenius Kidney Care) staff and the nurses and staff of Sheboygan Progressive Care Center for all of their loving care and support.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Richard's arrangements.
