Richard A. Schaefer

Richard A. Schaefer age 77 of St. Germain, formerly of West Bend, passed away Monday December 17, 2018 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice with his wife Carol by his side.

Born March 15, 1941 in Milwaukee to Arnold and Sylvia Schaefer, he attended local schools and graduated from Nicolet High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1962 and during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked for many years as a construction estimator in the Milwaukee area. On September 20, 1975 he was united in marriage to Carol A. Torgerson in Milwaukee. He was a member of Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club, the NRA, and the St. Germain Community United Church of Christ. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and snowmobiler. He was also a volunteer at the UCC Thrift Shop in St. Germain.

Richard is survived by his wife Carol, a daughter, Kristin (Sam) Keller of Waldo, a son, Steven (Carrie) Schaefer of Fredonia, 5 grandchildren, Holden Turner, Brooke Keller, Micayla Keller, Trent Schaefer, and Anna Schaefer. He is further survived by brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sally Schaefer Mueller.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the St. Germain Community U.C.C., 1315 State Hwy. 155, St. Germain. Pastor Joel Huenemann will officiate. Visitation will take place from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. A luncheon will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Richard's name.

Richard's family would like to thank the doctors nurses and staff at the Marshfield Clinic in Minocqua, the Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield & the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls for all of their loving care and support.

The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Richard's arrangements.
