Rev. Edwin C. Bek

Rev. Edwin C. Bek, 93, of Sheboygan, passed away early Saturday morning, June 11, 2022 at St. Nicholas Hospital.
Born March 30, 1929 in Falls City, NE, Edwin was a son of the late William and Louise Karsten Bek. He attended schools in Falls City and graduated from Falls City High School in 1947. He continued his studies at Concordia College in Seward NE, and graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, IL in 1954. On June 19, 1955, he was united in marriage to Wilma R. Kleinsorge at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wellsville, MO.
Rev. Bek was the pastor of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Sheboygan for 20 years before his retirement in 1994. He previously served at Grace & Trinity Lutheran Church, Wellsville, MO, Zion Lutheran Church, Chappell, NE, Faith Lutheran Church, Hastings, NE, and Zion Lutheran Church, Omaha, NE. During his ministry, he served on various synodical, district and circuit boards and committees. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Nebraska Cornhuskers football fan. He enjoyed reading, traveling and working in his yard.
He is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, Wilma, Sheboygan; his children, Philip Bek, Franklin, and Kimberly Schmidt, Sheboygan; his grandchildren, Cody, Colby and Clay Schmidt; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Ted, Paul, and Don Bek and Lenore Diek and Ruth Lichtenstiger.
Funeral services for Rev. Bek will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2022, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 13th & Lincoln Avenue. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place in the Chapel of Eternal Light.
A memorial fund has been established in his name for Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, IN and St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Sheboygan.
