Ralph “Rick” Slimmer, age 68, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, March 5th, at the Sharon Richardson Hospice Center with his dear friend, Donna Brown, at his side.
Ralph was born on December 2, 1948 in Laona, son of the late Frank and Sylvia (Conley) Slimmer. He graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School and shortly after graduation, enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp where he proudly served his country.
For many years, Ralph was an over-the-road truck driver. He also was employed in carpentry. Ralph enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping, fishing and helping out his many friends.
Ralph is survived by his very dear friend of 15 years, Donna Brown. He is also survived by: three daughters, Gwendolyn, Rebecca and Danielle; two brothers and two sisters, Dale (Suzanne) Slimmer, Larry (Anna) Slimmer, Joy Slimmer and Jill (Andy) Velez; and many dear friends whom he considered his family, including Charles “Chuck” McCoy, Dave Koch and Shauna Brown, along with many other relatives and friends. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents as well as his grandparents and other relatives.
A memorial service for Ralph will be held on Saturday, March 11th at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 824 Wisconsin Avenue, Sheboygan, with the Rev. Timothy Mech officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place, and there will be no burial service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Ralph’s name for the American Cancer Society.
Ralph’s family and friends would like to extend their special thanks to the staff of Sharon Richardson Hospice for the compassionate care given to Ralph.
