Paul F. Opitz, 63, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 21, 2017 following his 20 year struggle with Multiple Sclerosis.
He was born September 5, 1953 in Brookfield, WI. He and his younger sister where adopted when Paul was 10 years old by Fred and Margaret Roberts Opitz. He attended middle school in Milwaukee and graduated from high school. He continued his education taking college courses, studying engineering,
Paul worked as an engineer, programing a Gantry five axis robot to cut fiberglass for the Kohler Company. He worked there for many years until his retirement and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was also a member of Blessed Trinity Church in Sheboygan Falls. He loved the 70's and anything classic rock. He loved the arts, completing a sculpture in downtown Milwaukee which also required him to build a kiln to complete the project. He enjoyed archery and was a member of the Whitetail Bow Hunters Club. He was an avid Packer fan who enjoyed attending practices and games. Paul had a "never quit" attitude and wanted to give back to the community to help others in need. He did this by serving on numerous boards and committees with the Aging and Disability Resource Center for seven years.
He is survived by his sister, Linda Jesko; his nephews, Brad (Erin Friday) Jesko, Garrett (Katie) Jesko and their children, Mason, Madeline and Wyatt, Ryan (Tonya) Jesko, and their son Aaden, and Derek (Michelle) Jesko, and their children Carson, Noah and Lennox; other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Blessed Trinity Church, 319 Giddings Avenue, Sheboygan Falls. Fr. Bob Lotz will preside at the Liturgy. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery in Sheboygan Falls.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Sheboygan Progressive Care Center, especially Trina, Michelle, Julia, Julie, Anna, Laura, Bree, Joan, Judy and Jody for the wonderful care and compassion given to Paul. And to the nurses and staff of Compassus Hospice, especially Cindy, RN, Stacey, RN, Katelyn, CNA, Chaplain DuWayne and his social worker Shelley for all of their loving care and support.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Paul's arrangements.
