Patricia Perry Reiss

Patricia Perry Reiss (Pat), age 96, died peacefully, surrounded by family, on December 29, 2017 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
She was born on April 9, 1921 in Milwaukee, daughter of the late Ernest and Jeanette Perry. She had one brother, the late Andre Perry. Her formative years were spent in Fond Du Lac, WI.
She attended Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA and graduated in 1943. After college, she returned to Wisconsin and worked in finance until her marriage to the late Robert (Bob) Braun in 1945. Together they had two sons, the late Robert (Perry) Braun and the late John Braun. After the death of Bob Braun, she began her second career at Memorial Hospital in Sheboygan. As the Director of Volunteer Services, she was instrumental in starting and managing the volunteer program. She was most proud of the Candy Striper program that provided volunteer opportunities to high school students within the hospital setting.
In addition to her involvement with Memorial Hospital volunteers, Pat was active in many local charities including Sheboygan Service Club, Town & Country Garden Club, Deland Foundation, Kohler Foundation, the Theater for Young Audiences, as well as many other worthy causes. Her faith community at Grace Episcopal Church was also a very important part of her life.
In April 1980, Pat was united in marriage with the late William (Bill) A. Reiss. She quickly became a member of a large, extended family that welcomed her with open arms. During their marriage, Pat and Bill enjoyed traveling together to many wonderful areas of the world.
She is survived by her stepchildren and their spouses, Martha (Glenn) Dumonthier of Rocky River, OH, Rhoda Dales of Elkhart Lake, WI, Claudia (George) Baker of Glenview, IL, William A. Reiss, Jr. (Tricia) of Sheboygan, WI, Alice (Byron) Scarborough of Fredericksburg, TX and David Reiss of Santa Fe, NM. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren and their spouses, Laura (Kevin) Walsh, Camille (Robert) O’Connor, Glenn Dumonthier, Jr., R. Peter (Patricia) Dales, Christine (Bill) Barrett, Mark (Julie) Dumonthier, Andrea (Joe) Burke, Bill (Jennifer) Reiss, Jennifer (Geoff) Preston, Brian (Robin) Baker, Steven (Wendy) Baker and Caroline Beauregard. She had 29 great grandchildren that she loved and adored as her own; Allison, Megan and Julia Walsh, Billy and Grace O’Connor, Peter, John and Steven Dales, Henry, Charles and Owen Barrett, Brooke Dumonthier, Madelyn, Billy, Harrison and Bridget Burke, Emily and Billy Reiss, Elizabeth, Charlie and Thomas Preston, Hamilton, George and Lewis Baker, Caroline, Sarah and Benjamin Baker and Jack and Will Beauregard. Pat is also survived by nieces Susan Baumgartner, Katherine Perry, Mary Sullens, her nephew Jim Perry and their families.
A private memorial service and inurnment will be held at Grace Episcopal Church.
Many thanks to all the wonderful caregivers that befriended Pat over the past few months at the Sheboygan Senior Community and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Your compassionate care allowed Pat to die as she had lived, with dignity, strength and love.
