Minnie "Mickey" Meives, 77, formerly of Sheboygan Falls, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, May 26, 2017 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Born June 16, 1939, in Sheboygan, Minnie was a daughter of the late Frank and Lauretta Neese Stauber. She attended Sheboygan area schools and Central High School. On June 3, 1960, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Meives in Sheboygan. They were married for 49 years before Robert preceded her in death on September 8, 2009.
Mickey was a nurses aid at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home for many years until her retirement. She previously worked at Morningside Nursing Home and St. Nicholas Hospital. She enjoyed casino trips and going to the cottage up north. She enjoyed cooking with her niece, Pam Bailey, on her summer visits from Palestine, TX. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandson Austin and fiancé Alyssa Hogan.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorna (Rob) Johnson, Cleveland; her grandson, Austin (fiancé Alyssa Hogan) Johnson, Orlando, FL; her brothers, Andy (Joan) Stauber, Sheboygan Falls, and Dennis Stauber, Green Bay; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Stauber, Sheboygan, Virginia Stauber, Sheboygan, Charles (Joann) Meives, Sheboygan, Diane Meives, Sheboygan Falls, Diane Wieting, Port Washington, and Marjorie (Albert) Kreidler, Sheboygan Falls; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Besides her parents and her husband Robert, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank (Beverly) Stauber, Jr., Fred Stauber, Floyd (Carolyn) Stauber and Emil Stauber; her sisters, Marion (Frank) Gorlewski and Lorna (Don) Agamaite; her brother-in-law, Roger Meives and her sister-in-law, Kay Jakum.
Funeral services will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
The family would like to thank Gail Soerens, Debbie Goedde, Charles Meives and Virginia Stauber for always being there for Mom. And to Nick, Haley, Elaina, Megan and Megan from the 2nd floor, and Jennifer and Jodie in the ICU at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Hospital for all of their loving care and support. A special thank you to Luann "Lollie" Rashid for her compassion and being there for Mom these past three days.
