Merlin W. Rusch

Merlin W. Rusch, 93, of Sheboygan, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022 at his home.
Born December 6, 1928 in the Town of Rantoul, Calumet County, Merlin was a son of the late Arthur and Rosella Riemer Rusch. On March 18, 1950, he was united in marriage to Reginia M. "Ginny" Lohuis in the Town of Holland. They were married for 62 years before Ginny preceded him in death on June 25, 2012.
Merlin owned and operated Service Ice Co. in Sheboygan until his retirement in 2012. He was a member of Fountain Park United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. He enjoyed playing sheepshead and going out to eat and discussing current events with his friend Don and his cousins who he met with once a month.
He is survived by his children, Kay (Randall) Wodrich, Jay (Geri) Rusch, and Joy (William) Powers; seven grandchildren, Jana (Alan) DuMoulin, Ryan (Andrea) Wodrich, Jessica (James) Grier, Jill Hert, Joshua (Leah) Hert, Kaylen (fiance Austin Kramer) Rusch, and Andrea (Jordan) Fleichfresser; 5 great-grandchildren; his sister, Juiliann Stache; brother-in-law, Norbert Lohuis; a sister-in-law, Janice Lohuis; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents and wife, Ginny, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Lee Rusch; his son Jon Rusch; his daughter, Sue Hert; his brother, Arthur Rusch; sisters-in-law, Esther Lohuis, Shirley Lohuis and Nancy Rusch; and brothers-in-law, Earl Lohius, Donald Lohuis and Melvin Stache.
Private family services will take place at a later date. Inurnment will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Aurora at Home for all of their loving care and support.
