Mary Lou Herman

Mary Louise Herman, 97, of Sheboygan, passed away Sunday morning, May 12, 2024, at the Aurora Medical Center in Sheboygan.
Born October 19, 1926, in Monroeville, IN, Mary Lou was a daughter of the late Henry and Esther Montaba Knefelkamp. She attended Horace Mann, Sheridan, and Lincoln-Erdman Schools and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School. On May 8, 1948, she was united in marriage to Walter Herman in Sheboygan. They where married for 64 years before Walter preceded her in death on February 6, 2013.
Mary Lou was a sales clerk for the H.C. Prange Co. before her retirement in 1969. She previously worked for McLellans and Hills Department Store. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and volunteered at the St. Luke Food Pantry. She served as a past president of the Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center volunteers. She enjoyed reading, ceramics and crafts, and liked to keep busy with all of her volunteer work, gardening, and her beloved dogs.
She is survived by her niece, Diane Darkow, Sheboygan; great nieces and nephews, Anthony (Stephanie) Forkner, Christopher (Terri Dufresne) Forkner, Garrett (Renee) Forkner, Jeffrey (Sara) Bahrs, Justin Bahrs, Jennifer (Matt) Olson, Nancy Woodward, John (Karen) Chavlovich, David (Stephanie) Chavlovich, and Mark Chavlovich; numerous great great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Walter, she was preceded in death by two nieces, Pat Forkner and Gail Dippel.
Funeral services for Mary Lou will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue, Sheboygan. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff Aurora Medical Center for all of their loving care and support.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Mary Lou's arrangements.
