Mark G. DeLong, 73, of Sheboygan, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Rocky Knoll where he had been residing.
Born July 11, 1943 in Two Rivers, Mark was a son of the late Earl and Velva O'Leary DeLong. He attended Humbird area schools and graduated from Humbird High School in 1961. He continued his education at the U.W. Eau Claire until he drafted into the U.S. Army where he served in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968. He was united in marriage to Judith D. Roberts in Hopkinsville, KY.
Mark was a foreman at the Kohler Co. for 34 years, retiring on December 10, 2003. He was a member of Church of Christ in Sheboygan, the Kohler Quarter Century Club and the V.F.W. Post 9156. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and sport hunting. He was an avid Green Bay Packer, Badger and Brewers fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his sweetheart Judi, his children and grandchildren. Another was having breakfast every Tuesday with his best friend Eddie. He will be remembered for his heart of gold.
He is survived by his wife and sweetheart, Judi, Sheboygan; his children, Brett (Juli Harmelink) DeLong, Sheboygan, Nicole (Rick) Backhaus, Wabeno, WI, and Lance (Melinda) DeLong, Sheboygan; his grandchildren and great grandchildren; his brother, Owen (Pauline) DeLong, Cleveland; and his sister Coralee DeLong, Two Rivers; his sister-in-law, Lola DeLong, Two Rivers; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Karen DeLong, and three brothers, Ronald, Pete and Gerald DeLong.
Funeral services for Mark will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 24, 2017 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. The Rev. Guy Marshal will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment with full military honors will take place in the Garden of Valor of Greenlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, a memorials may be directed to the V.F.W. Post 9156, 552 S. Evans Street, Sheboygan, WI 53081.
