Marilyn Mae Scharinger

May 23, 1941 — March 2, 2018

Marilyn Mae Scharinger, 76, of Sheboygan, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Born May 23, 1941 in Adell, Marilyn was a daughter of the late Edward and Eleanor Gerlach Wendland. She attended schools and graduated from Elkhart Lake High School. On April 20, 1963, she was united in marriage to David Lee Scharinger at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. They were married for 46 years before David preceded her in death on November 12, 2009.
Marilyn worked for American Orthodontics for 25 years before her retirement in 2009. She was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church where she was active in the altar guild, bible classes, quilters group, senior citizens club and the funeral serving committee. She was active at the Sheboygan Senior Center where she enjoyed playing mahjong, bingo, traveling and spending time with her friends. She enjoyed crafting, especially the fiber arts including weaving and knitting through the Lakeshore Area Fiber Fanatics. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, David (Patricia) Scharinger, Leavenworth, KS, Daniel (Mary) Scharinger, Fond du Lac, Scott (Lisa) Scharinger, Kiel, Michael (Kimberly) Scharinger, Sheboygan Falls, Kevin Scharinger, Sheboygan, and Brian (Rebecca) Scharinger, Kewaskum; her grandchildren, Sarah (Derek) West, Gladstone, MO, Elizabeth (Todd) Reller, Pratt, KS, Chad Sclavi, Minneapolis, MN, Ryan Sclavi, Austin, TX, Creg Sclavi, Sarasota, FL, Logan Sclavi, Stevens Point, Thomas Scharinger, Sheboygan, Meredith Scharinger, Milwaukee, Julia Scharinger, Sheboygan, Charlie Scharinger, Sheboygan, and Alex Scharinger, Kewaskum; her two brothers, Richard (Noreen) Wendland, St. Anne, and James Wendland, Milwaukee; her sisters-in-law, Jeanette Wendland, Amberg, WI, Marianne Wendland, Sheboygan Falls, and Karen Scharinger, West Bend; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Besides her parents and her husband, David, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Sebeck, and her brothers Eugene, Douglas and Keith Wendland.
Funeral services for Marilyn will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 13th & Lincoln Avenue. The Rev. Alan Kretschmar will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name for St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Froedtert Hospital Neuro Intensive Care Unit and the staff of the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all of their loving care and support. A special thank you for the outpouring of support from her many friends over the past few weeks.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Marilyn's arrangements.
