Marilee Dillenburg, age 76, of Sheboygan died peacefully on Monday evening, March 7 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, WI. as a result of respiratory complications following emergency heart surgery.
She was born March 29, 1939 to Victor and Leona (Krick) Weinrich in Port Washington, WI. She earned an associate degree in nursing from Lakeshore Technical College.
Marilee led a full life, importantly featuring God, family, and friends. She belonged to St. Dominic Parish and was a member of the classical and funeral choirs and participated as a sacristan, nursing home minister and emergency prayer group member and was a member of the Catholic Women’s Charity Club of Sheboygan. She enjoyed serving as an active Associate with Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother Associates. She enjoyed researching Genealogy as a hobby. She also liked interacting and sharing old photos with the "I grew up in Port Washington" club online. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren and great grand daughter which brought her so much happiness. She was always a willing grandma ready to babysit and volunteered to hold many a crying newborn through the night.
Marilee was a proud nurse, initially as an LPN and then an RN and enjoyed pursuing this career for many years. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998, and though she retired at that time, she continued her passion for nursing during her 17 years as a cancer survivor. She served others as a nurse in many capacities, whether it was a for a family member, a neighbor, a friend from church or an act of kindness to a stranger.
Surviving Marilee are her loving husband and friend Thomas Dillenburg, Sheboygan: Children Denise (Daniel) Klotzbach, Elkhart Lake; William Hubler II, Sheboygan; Stephen Hubler, Howards Grove; Rebecca (Stephen) Provancher, Whitefish Bay; Rachel Veldboom, Roberts, WI; and Matthew (Judy) Dillenburg, Appleton: Grandchildren Doran Norman, Zachary (Allison) Norman, Lucas Klotzbach, Abram Klotzbach, Adam Klotzbach, Gabriel Veldboom, Nathan Veldboom, Ryan Veldboom, Brady Provancher, Evan Provancher, Madelyn Dillenburg, Katelyn Dillenburg and a great-granddaughter Mya Norman. She is further survived by her brother, Thomas (Joan) Weinrich and brothers- and sisters-in-law Peter (Ora) Dillenburg, West Allis; Barbara (Gary) Olson, Mosinee; Michael (Colette) Dillenburg, Milwaukee; Monica (Mark) Ellis, Rochester Hills, MI; Diane (Thomas) Schroeder, Abrams, WI; Jean Dillenburg, Shawano; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Especially, Sister Helen Malolepsy (Oshkosh) and other members of the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mothers. She was preceded in death by her parents, In-laws Victor and Eleanor Dillenburg and brother-in-law Anthony Dillenburg and brothers William Weinrich and John Weinrich, sister Sueann Weinrich and special granddaughter Lauren Elizabeth Veldboom. Also sisters-in-laws Lillian Weinrich and Marge Weinrich.
A memorial service will be held at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 2133 N 22nd Street in Sheboygan on Saturday, March 12 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service begins. Inurnment will be at a later date in Port Washington.
Marilee’s family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the emergency personnel at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan and helicopter transport team. We would also like to thank the caregivers in the ICU units at St. Vincent’s Hospital who cared for Marilee in the last two weeks of her life.
