Margaret E. Meinnert, 84, of Cherrywood Court, Sheboygan, passed away Monday morning, May 5, 2014 at Golden Living Center. Born March 30, 1930 in the Town of Centerville, Margaret was a daughter of the late Norbert and Malita Kress Leonhard. She attended Red Arrow School. She then worked at St. Nicholas Hospital in the food service division before moving on to the Playdium where she met the love of her life, Merlin W. Meinnert. They were united in marriage on August 2, 1958 at Ebenezer Church. They were married for 27 years before Merlin passed away on August 18, 1985. Margaret continued working in food service until her retirement, having worked at Eddie's Restaurant, S.S. Kresge's, H.C. Prange's both in the Fountain and the Terrace Room, Ella's Della and finally retiring from Interstate Restaurant. She was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ. She enjoyed taking bus trips, playing bingo and cards. She was also an avid Packer and Brewer's fan. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Marlyn and Mary Meinnert, Sheboygan; her two grandsons, Michael and Matthew, both of Sheboygan; two sisters, Marcella Thielke, Sheboygan, and Helen Zarinek, Manitowoc; and her brother, Arvin (Renee) Leonhard, Georgia; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband Merlin, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Elmer Leonhard, and three sisters, Irene Fiedler, Dorothy Koenig and Ann Louiser. Funeral services for Margaret will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, 3215 Saemann Avenue, Sheboygan. The Rev. Lorrie Steward will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at Wildwood Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in her name for Ebenezer United Church of Christ.
