Lorraine M. Wassink

Lorraine M. Wassink, 93, formerly of Sheboygan, passed away early Tuesday morning, September 2, 2014 at Ellen's Home in Germantown where she had been residing. Born July 24, 1921 in Pine City, MN, Lorraine was a daughter of the late Thomas and Helen Greig Healy. She attended Sheboygan area grade schools and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1938. On June 7, 1944, she was united in marriage to William Heimke at the First Presbyterian Church in Sheboygan. They were married for 33 years before William preceded her in death on November 23, 1977. She then married Eugene L. Wassink on May 2, 1980. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2006. Lorraine worked in the Sheboygan County Treasurer's office as an assistant to the County Treasurer for many years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the ladies guild. She enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. Her greatest joy was the special time she spent with her family and many friends. She is survived by her daughter, Karen (James) Wanke, Menomonee Falls, WI; her son, John (Mary Beth Johnson) Heimke, Troy, NY; grandchildren, Sandra (Garth Thoulouis) Wanke, Shakopee, MN, Pamela (Alan) May, Kewauskum, WI, and Melissa Wanke, Menomonee Falls, WI; three great grandchildren, Sierra Thoulouis, Kiley May and Derek May; and her sister, Helen Larson, Sheboygan. She is further survived by her step children, Barbara (Mike) Huber, Franklin, WI, Pat (Mike) Littmann, Pembine, WI, Jean (Doug) Krukowski, Waconia, MN, and David (Jackie) Wassink, Sheboygan; six step grandchildren and numerous step great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and her two husbands, William and Eugene, she was preceded in death by her brother, Roland Healy. Funeral services for Lorraine will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church, 1429 N. 5th Street, Sheboygan. The Rev. Richard Manny will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name for the First Presbyterian Church. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Ellen's Home and Seasons Hospice for all of their loving care and support. The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Services has been entrusted with Lorraine's arrangements.
