Lois J. Lauritsen

Lois Jane Lauritsen, 92, of Sheboygan, formerly of Lakewood, WI, passed away Saturday morning, May 13, 2017 at the Shores of Sheboygan.
Born February 7, 1925 in Kenosha, WI, Lois was the daughter of the late Leonard and Minnie Kunze Seelman. She attended schools in Kenosha and graduated from Bradford High School. She continued her education in nursing at the University of Michigan. She was united in marriage to Harry L. Lauritsen on February 7, 1948 at Friedens Ev. Lutheran Church in Kenosha. The couple moved to Sheboygan in 1951 when Harry took a job with Plastics Engineering Company. Following Harry's retirement in 1989, the couple moved to Lakewood, WI. They were married for 61 years before Harry preceded her in death on February 1, 2010.
Lois was a teacher's aid at Urban Middle School until her retirement. She previously worked at Wigwam Mills and as a librarian at Pigeon River and at Urban Middle Schools. During W.W.II, she worked as a nurse. She was a member of First United Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. She enjoyed water and snow skiing, golfing, bowling, muskie fishing and playing handball at the YMCA. She and Harry served on the National Ski Patrol for over 30 years. She belonged to the Red Hat Society and the McCauslin Lioness. She also loved playing cards, sewing, reading and her Old Fashions.
She is survived by her children, Susan (John) Blaise, Denver, CO, James (Judy) Lauritsen, Shreveport, LA, Keith Lauritsen, Green Bay, Renee (fiancé Dave Poleski) Sheboygan, and Scott (Carla) Lauritsen, Kiel; her daughter-in-law, Carol Lauritsen, Lizton, IN; her grandchildren, Michelle Blaise, Michael (Alyssa) Blaise, Christine (Chris) Bankson, Jessica (Andrew) D'Avy, Jennifer (David) Batic, Joshua Lauritsen, Christopher (Christina) Lauritsen, Robyn Lauritsen, Jocelyn (Michael) Gilligan, Jacklyn (James) Pittner, Jesse Grunow, Janette Neils, Dylon (Victoria) Lauritsen, and Leah Lauritsen; and 13 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Harry, she was preceded in death by her son Ronald L. Lauritsen, and her two brothers, Leonard (Elmyra) Seelman and Elmer (Dorothy) Seelman.
A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. The Rev. Kristin Berglund will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Shores of Sheboygan and St. Nicholas Home Health & Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
