Loella J Leicht

December 17, 1930 — November 17, 2017

Loella J. Leicht found eternal peace and passed away November 17, 2017 at the age of 86. She was the daughter of Carl and Norma (nee Bahlow) Goking and was born on December 17, 1930. She attended Central High School graduating in 1949 and went on to attend Deaconess School of Nursing in Milwaukee, WI, graduating in 1952. She received her B.S. in Nursing from the College of St. Francis in 1960 and received her Public Health Certification from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee in 1978.

Loella’s nursing career spanned many decades and her 46 years of professional nursing service began in 1952 at Memorial Hospital as a surgical nurse followed by various nursing positions at Memorial Hospital, St. Nicolas Hospital and the Visiting Nurse Association. “Loella was born to be a nurse.”

Loella married the love of her life, Raymond G. Leicht on October 11, 1952 and was able to celebrate 50 years of marriage in 2002.

Upon retirement, Loella led an active life as a member of the VFW 9156 Women’s Auxiliary, AARP Club #338 and The XYZ club at St. Paul’s Lutheran church. Additionally, she volunteered as a reader to small children at various schools and made quilts for the World Relief group. Loella was also a consummate reader, gardener, cook, oil painter, and most importantly a woman who “played cards to win” every Wednesday and Friday. Loella loved her family, music, cottage in Northern Wisconsin and the friends she made there, as well as her dog Millie, feeding birds, travel, the Florida Keys, and the ability to get in her car and go, go, go!

She is survived by her daughters Terie Leicht (Tim Day), Cindy Leicht (Dr. Fred Mueller) and son Jeffrey Leicht (Jane Stormzand-Leicht), two grandchildren; Megan Estrada (Rence) and Leyton Mueller, three great grandchildren; Aubree, Ethan, and Owen Estrada, her brother Jairus (Rita) Goking, as well as numerous cousins and friends, including her special friend since childhood, Ruth Roeder.

Loella was preceded in death by her husband Raymond in 2002 and her sister-in-law Ruth Barbone in 2013.
