Lisa K. Jacobson

August 22, 1957 — August 8, 2018

Lisa Karene Jacobson, age 60, died Wednesday morning, August 8, at the University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. She passed away surrounded by family and friends after a valiant fight with lymphatic cancer.

Lisa was born August 22,1957, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to Frank and Elizabeth (Betty Braasch) Jacobson.

She attended Sheboygan South High and Grier School in Tyrone, Pennsylvania. She studied at UW Platteville where she met Kevin Wiseman to whom she was married from 1976 - 2006. They then transferred to UW Stout where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education in 1980.

After graduation, they moved to Iowa where Lisa taught preschool at Avoca-Hancock Elementary School. In 1982 they moved back to Sheboygan and she continued teaching at St. Cyril. In 1985 she joined Jacobson Rost where she worked in human resources for 25 years. Lisa joined her brother Tryg in the founding of the Jake’s Cafe in 2010.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Sierra Wiseman, Paul Henning, her partner and caregiver for over 10 years, and her siblings Kristin (Richard) Bemis and Tryg (Ann Marie) Jacobson and their children. Lisa was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Leif.

During her life she fought and overcame many medical adversities and always kept a positive attitude. She lived by the words of her late father “If you see something that needs to be done, pick up the broom.” Lisa will be remembered for her kind and caring nature. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a knack for thoughtfully making life's little things more fun for everyone. She enjoyed children for their natural curiosity and creative spirit and made her friends of all ages feel young at heart.

Lisa loved all animals and fed the birds in her own backyard. Her interest in equestrian sports took her to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico at a young age. One of her horses even followed her to Grier. She also enjoyed the company of cats and in the past few years kept pet rainbow lorikeets for their color and conversation.

One of her favorite things was to feel the warmth of a crackling campfire. Early on she enjoyed camping trips around the country with Kevin and Sierra and then with Paul up north where they were building their northwoods home together.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established in Lisa’s name for the Restoring Hope Transplant House which became Lisa’s home away from home ever since her transplant in 2013. Throughout the years Restoring Hope welcomed both Lisa and her family members during long stays and short checkups at the UW Hospital. A second memorial has also been established at the Bookworm Gardens where Lisa, who was always young at heart, took anyone who visited Sheboygan.
