Lila Edna Rohrstaff

Lila E. Rohrstaff, 96 of Harmony Living in Sheboygan, passed away Thursday morning, July 3, 2014. Lila was born on July 16, 1917, in Sheboygan, the daughter of Frank and Margaret Guenther. She was a graduate of Sheboygan Central High School. On October 17, 1936, she married Ottar Rohrstaff at Bethel Baptist Church in Sheboygan where she had been a lifelong member. During her younger years she was part of the Guenther Family Orchestra consisting of her mother, two brothers and a sister. They entertained in this area plus performed at the World's Fair in Chicago in 1934. Lila was a long term employee of the Federal Government managing the Selective Service Office in Sheboygan for many years. She served as organist of Bethel for many years. During her younger years, Lila was a master knitter providing Norwegian design sweaters for her family, and also very skilled in her weaving. If she touched a plant, it would grow. She was always on call to provide care for newborn members of her extended family so the mothers could recuperate. She especially enjoyed her role as a grandmother and never failed to remember her nieces and nephews on each occasion in their lives. She is survived by her son, Ottar O. (Sandra) Rohrstaff of Alexandria, VA, and her daughter Patricia M. Juers of Sheboygan; two grandchildren, Kristine A. (Michael) Williams and Kelly L. (Christian) Wood, both of Howards Grove; two step grandchildren, Michael (Ang) Blanchette of Ruckersville, VA and Janelle Blanchette of Fairfax, VA; four great grandchildren, Abra L. Williams of Minneapolis, Chase M. Williams of Howards Grove, Hayley E. Fenner of Minneapolis and Alexander R. Fenner of Howards Grove; and two step great grandchildren, Malynn and Jack Blanchette of Ruckersville, VA. Lila is also survived by her brother-in-law, Charles Bellmer of New Port Richey, FL and numerous nieces and nephews. Lila was preceded in death by her husband, Ottar; her son-in-law, Clark G. Juers; her parents and in-laws; two brothers and their spouses, Francis (Etta) Guenther and Frederick (Ruth) Guenther; and a sister, Evelyn Bellmer; plus a brother-in-law and his wife, Reidar (Ethel) Rohrstaff; and a sister-in-law and her husband, Hedvig (Bill) Strasser. Viewing will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue, Sheboygan from 10:00 - 12:00 p.m. followed by a graveside committal service at the Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
