LaVerne V. Wieck, 89, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away early Tuesday morning, December 8, 2015 at Prairie Crossing, A Pine Haven Community, where she had been residing.
Born June 20, 1926 in the Town of Sheboygan, LaVerne was a daughter of the Erwin & Viola Kruschinski Koppelmann. She attended Erdman School. On May 10, 1947, she was united in marriage to Wilfred H. Wieck at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. They were married for 47 years before Wilfred preceded her in death on August 31, 1994.
LaVerne was a homemaker who worked with her husband on the family farm in the Town of Wilson for 46 years. Even though she never received her driver's license, she had much experience driving a tractor. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in the Town of Wilson for many years. She enjoyed playing sheepshead and bingo, reading, baking, gardening and preserving. She loved dancing, the accordion and keeping time with the music by tapping along, almost to the day she died. She was a member of the Farm Bureau where she volunteered at the Sheboygan County Fair and assisted at the voting polls. She was known for her famous Ma Wieck bean dish and German potato salad recipes, her breads and cinnamon buns and her affinity for raspberries. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is now back together with her special cousins Dorothy, Bernita and Leona, spending time together doing the things they enjoyed.
She is survived by her four children, Shirley (Bill) Schultz, Sheboygan, Roger (Chris) Wieck, Sheboygan, DuWayne (Linda) Wieck, Plymouth, and Beverly (Tom) DePagter, Plymouth; her 8 grandchildren, Scott Schultz, Steven Schultz, Nicole (Billy) Claerbout, Nathan DePagter, Tanya (John) Weigel, Stacey Richter, Kelly (George) Seitz, and Kevin (Julie) Wieck; her 11 great grandchildren, Cody & Logan Weigel, Cassandra & Kaylee Richter, Ahnika & Lauren Seitz, Isabel, Levi & Vincent Wieck, and Lola & Nora Claerbout; her sister-in-law, LaVerne Koppelmann; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Milford Koppelmann and her special friend, Waylon Miller.
Funeral services for LaVerne will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. The Rev. Shane Cota, pastor of Trinity Lutheran in the Town of Wilson will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Private family entombment will take place in the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
