LaVerne Mae Rudie, 89, of Sheboygan, passed away Thursday evening March 9, 2017 at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls..
Born January 27, 1928 in Sheboygan, the daughter of the late Herman and Frieda (Aderman) Siegert. On April 12, 1947, she was united in marriage to the late Ralph M. Rudie at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church.
LaVerne retired from the Sheboygan Area School District as a baker in 1990 after 21 years of baking for the school lunch program. She previously had worked for her father's business, Sheboygan Baking Co. as well as Kneever's Hotel and Thimmig's Restaurant. She enjoyed card playing with high school girlfriends for over 50 years until they stopped getting together. LaVerne loved baking and making desserts for family events and gatherings. She also did needlework, embroidery & counted cross stitch. She enjoyed camping with Ralph and serving as camp hosts at Peninsula State Park in their retirement years. They traveled all across the country for many years. LaVerne was also a member of the Altar Guild at St. John's UCC and volunteered with Meals on Wheels for 15+ years.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandra A. (Jon) Paskiet, Sheboygan, and Karen J. (Charles) Mais, Sheboygan; grandsons, Travis (Dana) Corson, Odessa, FL, Todd (special friend, Jen Dean) Corson, Las Vegas, NV, Toby Corson, Sheboygan, Andrew Mais, Sheboygan, and Adam Mais, Madison; and her great granddaughter, Riley Jo Corson, Odessa, FL; two nieces & great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sister, Janet Pytel.
Funeral services for LaVerne will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 13th & Lincoln Avenue. the Rev. Gregory Whelton will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place in the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Schleevogt, Dr. Tracy Sherman and the nurses and staff of Pine Haven Christian Home and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
