Joyce A. Creech, 80, of Sheboygan, passed away Sunday evening, March 13, 2016 at her home.
Born April 9, 1935 in Sheboygan, Joyce was a daughter of the late Frederick and Irma Laack Janke. She attended area schools and graduated from Central High School in 1954. On June 13, 1955, she was united in marriage to James E. "Jim" Creech at St. John's United Church of Christ. They were married for 53 years before Jim preceded her in death on August 7, 2008.
Joyce worked for the Sheboygan Public School System for 27 years as a kitchen supervisor. She previously worked at Lane Manufacturing. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ and was president of the Women's Guild. She was also a member of the Golden Choralaires and the Red Hat Society. She volunteered for the Salvation Army at the Emmaus meal sites. She enjoyed playing poker, sheepshead and spending time with her family and friends. She was famous for her cookies and toffee candy and helping those in need. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Bonnie and Jerry Raeder and their daughter, Chelsey and her fiancé Jeremy Meier, and her son Larry and Dawn Creech and their children, Montana and Hunter Creech, all of Sheboygan; and many other close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Irma, and her husband, Jim.
Funeral services for Joyce will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 1248 Lincoln Avenue. The Rev. Gregory Whelton will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Joyce's arrangements.
