John V. Urbas, 70, of Eagan, MN, formerly of Sheboygan, passed away Thursday morning, October 29, 2026, at Stonehaven Senior Living in Eagan, MN where he had been residing during his short but brave and hard-fought battle with cancer.
Born September 12, 1956, in Sheboygan, John was a son of the late John and Ann O'Grady Urbas. He attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1975.
John was a forklift operator in the Sheboygan area for over 40 years, primarily with Muth Company, before his retirement in 2021.
John loved spending time walking outdoors whenever he could, meeting his friends for monthly breakfast, and taking pleasure in the simple things like a favorite Beatles song and frying out on a sunny day. He was a sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the Packers, Brewers and the Bucks, but never passed up an opportunity to see a live Vikings, Twins, or Wild game when visiting his daughter, Betsey, and granddaughter, Isla, in Minnesota. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially Isla, who he generously spoiled and adored.
He is survived by his daughter, Betsey, his granddaughter, Isla, both of Cottage Grove, MN; his sister, LuAnn (John) Roehl, Greendale, WI: his brother, Daniel (Mary) Urbas, Woodbury, MN; nephew, Nick Roehl, Greendale, and nieces, Rachel Urbas, St. Paul, MN, and Sarah Urbas, Minneapolis, MN; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for John will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026, at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue, Sheboygan. Fr. Dennis Beltre will officiate. Family and friend are welcome at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in Greendale Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Aurora Sheboygan, St. Luke Medical Center, Minnesota Oncology, Fairview Ridges Hospital, and Stonehaven Senior Living for all of their loving care and support. They are eternally grateful to loved ones and close friends who cared for John over these past seven months.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with John's arrangements.
