John Fleck, Jr., age 92, of 1622 Ontario Ave., died Tuesday, morning, August 27, at his home. Born August 30, 1920, in Kenosha, WI, John was a son of the late John and Alvina Wagner Fleck, Sr. John served his country in the U.S. Army during W.W.II. as an Artillery Officer in the Philippines. On Jan. 3, 1942, he married LaVerne Sorenson in Sheboygan. The couple was married for 57 years before LaVerne preceded him in death. John and LaVerne performed as members of "The Mar-Vels Teeter-Board Act" during the 1940's until 1954, and later, along with their daughters, Judeann, Linda and Deborah, performed as "The Julinda's" until 1967. They performed throughout the United States and Canada, appearing at circuses, fairs and theaters, and also appeared on television and in movies. For sixteen years, the couple lived in Lewisburg, PA, where John was recreation supervisor at Lewisburg Penitentiary. The couple returned to Sheboygan in 1987. He was a member of Sheboygan & Madison Turners, American Division Veteran's Association, Actors Guild of Variety Artists, Circus Tent No. 79, Friends of the Circus, and American Legion Post 83. John is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Judeann and Thomas Grinage of Middlebourne, WV.; four grandchildren, Christopher (Sylvia) Grinage, Jacksonville, NC, Jason Zachini, Travis (Darcy) Hogue, Bandon, OR, Julie Zachini, New York, NY; two great-grandchildren Thomas Grinage, Jacksonville, NC and John Grinage, Jacksonville, NC; one brother, Marvin (Edna) Fleck, Two Rivers, WI; one sister-in-law, Shirley (Tony) Glazer, Sheboygan; his best friend, Jo Tadych, Sheboygan; nieces, nephews. other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Linda Zacchini and Deborah Hogue; a granddaughter, Heather Hogue; three brothers, Albert, Ervin & Robert Fleck and one sister, Viola DeMey. A memorial service for John will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, August 30, 2013, at Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Ave. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name for Friends of the Circus.
