Joan M. Warner, 94, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls. She was born April 19, 1932, in Loomis, WI to the late Leo and Helen (Schroeder) Halbrook. Joan graduated from Denmark High School and went on to attend Layton School of Art. It was there she met the love of her life Robert “Bob” W. Warner. They married on February 27, 1954, at All Saints Church in Denmark, Wisconsin. Robert preceded her in death on December 21, 2006.
As their family grew, Joan worked part-time as an artist, colorizing black-and-white photographs. After her youngest child began school, she continued working part-time at Roenitz Drug Store. Joan deeply loved her family and cherished the many memories they created together. She was a talented artist who enjoyed counted cross-stitch—often framing her work and giving it as gifts—along with making handmade cards, china painting, and taking art classes with her daughters. She also enjoyed puzzle books. She is survived by her children: Rick (Julie) Warner, Rob (Raquel) Warner, Ron Warner, Jim Warner, Joy (Chris) Bacon, Chris (Deenice) Warner, and Joel Warner; 11 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her son-in-law, Dean Allmann; her brother, Richard “Dick” (Bette) Halbrook; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Joan had a special gift for making everyone feel like family. Her children’s friends quickly became like an honorary tenth child—fondly known as her “#10s.” She remained a steady presence in their lives, remembering birthdays year after year with cards and kind words well into adulthood. To many, she was a second mom, offering the same love, care, and thoughtfulness she gave her own family
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Jonathan Warner, daughter Nancy Allmann, granddaughter Nicole Warner, and brothers James (Doris) Halbrook and Wayne (Dorothy) Halbrook.
