Joan "Joanie" C. Shircel, 66, of Plymouth, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at her home.
Born September 19, 1950 in Sheboygan, Joanie was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Julia Sipiorski Apel. She attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Sheboygan South High School in 1968. She continued her education at Lakeshore Technical College with an Associate's degree in Supervisory Business Management. On October 27, 1973, she was united in marriage to Chris Shircel at Ebenezer United Church of Christ.
Joanie was a quality assurance manager for Bemis Manufacturing for 27 years. She previously worked at Wisconsin Bell and Armour Leather. She was a life long member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ where she volunteered on various committees. She enjoyed reading, collecting unicorns and Swarovski crystal and was an avid Packer fan. She was also a member of the Bemis 25 Year Club. Her greatest joy was her family and friends. Her grandchildren were the "love of her life" and she thoroughly enjoyed every minute that she spent with them.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Chris, Plymouth; her three sons, Steven (Barbara) Shircel, Plymouth, Timothy Shircel, Menasha, and Brian Shircel, Sheboygan; her two grandsons, Nicholas and Devin Shircel; her brother, Larry (Diane) Apel, Sheboygan Falls; and her sister-in-law, Marjorie Apel, Wausau; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Lewis.
Funeral services for Joanie will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, 3215 Saemann Avenue. The Rev. Roger Mealiff will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Private inurnment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
The family would like to thank an angel nurse, Jean, and her husband who happened to be right where we needed them when we needed them. Thank you to the ambulance and police staff, as well as St. Nicholas Hospital for all of their expertise and support.
