Jayne A. List

February 27, 1955 — July 10, 2021

Jayne A. List, 66 of Sheboygan, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at home, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Jayne was born to Reinhard and Joyce (Wordell) Palm in Breslau, Germany on February 27, 1955. At six months old, Jayne had her first life adventure as she traveled to the United States. She grew up in Sheboygan, attending local schools and graduating from Sheboygan North High School in 1973.

Fun, adventure, family and friends were so important to Jayne that after graduation she traveled Europe with her best friend Karen. She attended UW-Sheboygan, where she earned her associate’s degree and also attended UW-Whitewater.

Jayne started working at Gilson Brothers in 1978. This is where she met her soulmate and love of her life, Brian. The two were married on April 19, 1980. Together they were blessed with and raised four children. Family and friends were of utmost importance to Jayne. She was involved in her children’s activities and an active member of church. She enjoyed time spent with friends and loved the Green Bay Packers. Most recently, Brian and Jayne especially loved the time they spent at their seasonal camper at Benson’s on Long Lake.

Jayne worked several jobs over the years, including providing in-home day care, working at local child care centers, and other part-time jobs while raising her children. She worked full-time at Shopko before working at Mayline. She retired in 2015. No matter where Jayne was working, she made friends and gave her all.

Over the last six years, Jayne inspired many as she faced several medical challenges. Through it all, she remained positive, supportive, and demonstrated her unwavering faith.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Brian; her four children Katie (Chad) Smith, Kristy (Justin) Hopkins, Brian, Jr (Jennifer) List, and Amy (Jason) Graf; and her cherished “Great Eight” - her eight granddaughters Laurynn, Jaycie, Krissah, Leah, Karli, Ava, Jovey, and Anna. She also leaves behind her father, Reinhard Palm; mother-in-law, Ruth Odekirk; brothers Wayne (Cindy), Bob (Patty), and Brian (Allie) Palm. She is further survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dennis (Waltraut) List, Karen (Danny) Weber, Uncle Hans (Gladys) Palm, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Jayne was preceded in death and reunited with her maternal and paternal grandparents, her mother, Joyce Palm, and father-in-laws Ed List and Harold Odekirk.

A memorial service for Jayne will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at St. John United Church of Christ, 1248 Lincoln Avenue, Sheboygan. The Rev. Gregory Whelton will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place in the Tranquility Columbarium of Greenlawn Memorial Park.
