Jay Lee Martin age 59, of Sheboygan passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
He was born November 20, 1957 in Skohegan, Maine to John and June (Wilder) Martin. He grew up and attended school in Skohegan where he attained the rank of Eagle Scout.
Jay served in the U.S. Navy from 1973-1977 aboard the U.S.S. Barney DDG-6 during the Vietnam War.
He was previously married to Sylvia (Stingl) Martin. They have 2 children, Jennifer (Amelio) Pulos and Jon (Sara) Martin along with three grandchildren; Dylan, Jack and Norah.
In 2013 he married Dorothea (Stemper) Martin.
He was a 3rd generation journeyman cabinet maker and was employed at Nemschoff Chairs since 2005. Jay was also a member of The Pine Club, the Elks Lodge #299 and a member of the Elks National Foundation.
Jay is survived by his wife Dorothea, his children and grandchildren, 2 sisters, Dale (Lee) Stephan of Plymouth and Bonny Redmond of Madison, ME, his brother Bruce Martin of Choctaw, OK, a sister-in-law, Nadine Martin of Summersville, SC, and his special pet friends, Kitty Bob and Sophie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David Martin.
A memorial service will be held Friday, September 15, 2017 at 6:00 P.M. at St. Johns United Church of Christ, 1248 Lincoln Ave. Sheboygan. The Rev. Gregory Whelton will officiate. Family and friends will be received from 3:00 P.M. until the time of service
Jay was the sweetest, bravest person and never once complained during his 3 year battle with cancer. He was a loving and understanding father and a great friend. .
The Family would like to thanks the nurses and staff of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their loving care and. support.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Jay's arrangements.
