James D. Lewis

James D. Lewis, 68, of Sheboygan passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday morning, May 18, 2014 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Born March 30, 1946 in Sheboygan, James was a son of Violet Wolters Lewis and the late Earl Lewis. He attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from South High School in 1964. He then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1968. On January 25, 1965, he was united in marriage to Karen Westera in Sheboygan. Jim worked for the Hayssen Manufacturing Company, traveling around the country in service and sales. He was an avid Packer and Brewers fan who also played for the Sheboygan A's and in the over 35 league. His love of sports was instilled in his grandsons as he watched them play baseball and basketball. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards, especially with his grandsons. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and the time he enjoyed spending with his family or traveling with his wife Karen on their winter holidays. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Karen; his three children, Tom Lewis, Sheboygan, Cari (Aaron) Anger, Sheboygan, and Kim Lewis, Sheboygan Falls; his two grandsons, Jason and Ryan Anger, Sheboygan; his mother, Violet Lewis, Sheboygan; his mother-in-law, Irene Westera; a brother-in-law, Bill (Judy) Westera; a sister-in-law, Jean Lewis; his niece Pamela Westera; his two nephews, Garrett (Doreen) Westera and Sean Lewis; his aunt, Betty Hayner and his cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl, his father-in-law, John Westera, his brother, David, and his grandparents. A Memorial Service celebrating Jim's life will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. The Rev. Lorrie Steward will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank Dr. Bettag and staff, Dr. Coulis and staff and the nurses and staff of St. Nicholas Home Health & Hospice and as well as Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for all of their loving care and support. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
