James G. Schulze, 81, of Sheboygan, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 17, 2015 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Green Bay. Born September 18, 1933 in Kohler, James was a son of the late Lester and Rose Benzschawel Schulze. He graduated from Kohler School in 1953 where he was an avid basketball player who scored many points for his team. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Alaska. On September 27, 1958, he was united in marriage to Joan M. Melger at St. John's Catholic Church in Kohler. Jim worked as a journeyman electrician for 39 years in the Sheboygan area until his retirement in 1996. Over the years he worked for Ace Electric, Rhode Electric and Specht Electric. He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church were he served on the Buildings and Grounds Committee and was involved with the Fall Festival for many years. He was a member of the IBEW Local 494. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed the Packers, Bucks and the Brewers. He also played basketball for Laack's Bar in the late 1950's. He loved working in his workshop and was an all around "fix it" guy. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Joan; his two sons, Alan and David (Nancy) Schulze, both of Sheboygan; his grandchildren, Tyler (fiancé Kelly Haskins), Chantel, Lukas and James Schulze, all of Sheboygan; his two sisters, Helen Freitag, Sheboygan, and Dorothy Nohl, Oconomowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is further survived by his former daughter-in-law, Rhonda Schulze, Sheboygan Falls. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles "Chaz" Schulze; and two brothers-in-law, Donald Freitag and Norman Nohl. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2015, at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 21st & Geele Avenue. Fr. Dan Lesecki, Senior Priest, will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Mass. Private family interment will take place in Woodland Cemetery, Kohler. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name. The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with James' arrangements.
