Ivan H. Ver Gowe

Ivan Howard Ver Gowe, 70, of Oostburg, passed away September 16th, 2026 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.

Born August 24, 1956 in Sheboygan, Ivan was the son of the late Howard D. and Marjorie A. Jensema Ver Gowe. He attended Oostburg area schools and graduated from Oostburg High School in 1975. On September 29, 1984, he was united in marriage to Angela Jane Reklaitis at Gibbsville Reformed Church.

Ivan worked in maintenance for Dutchland Plastics until his retirement. He previously worked at Nemschoff Chairs and Frank Bernard (VanHorn) Oldsmobile.

Cancer seemed to be the one thing Ivan never figured out how to fix, as he took great joy in being the family handyman and mechanic. He spent over 40 years building his model railroad layout, making many friends over the years through his love of trains. He also bowled, toured around the Midwest on his Goldwing with his wife as well as other friends and family members. You would also frequently find him cheering on the Packers and Brewers from his favorite recliner.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Angie; his children, Andrew (Laura) Ver Gowe, and Andrea (Aaron) Covey, both of Sheboygan; his grandchildren, Darren, Michael, Autumn, Ingrid, Walter and Gertrude; his brother-in-law, Phil Ongna of Gibbsville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, Howard and Marjorie, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ongna, and his father and mother-in-law, Joe and Jane Reklaitis.

Family and friends are welcome to gather with the family on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue, Sheboygan. A Celebration of Life Reception will take place at Jake's, A Lakeland Community, 529 Ontario Avenue, Sheboygan on Saturday, October 10th, from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until 5:00 pm. Attendees are invited to wear their favorite Brewers, Packers, Rush, or train-related items. A private burial will take place at a later date in Union Cemetery.

A memorial fund for the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice has been established in his name.

The family would like to thank Dr. Gustafson and nurse Beth at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic as well as the nurses and staff of the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all of their loving care and support.

The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Ivan's arrangements.
