Hilda E. Loewen

December 22, 1922 — May 22, 2013

Hilda Loewen passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2013 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls, WI. She enjoyed her ninetieth birthday on December 22nd with a large celebration, surrounded by family and friends. Hilda was born in 1922 in Fargo, North Dakota and was adopted by the late Phillip and Sophia Fellinger Herber, who became wonderful and loving parents to her. She was an only child but had many special and close friends, in particular, Ginny Rusch, who preceded her in death in 2012. While working for his mother, Hilda met her future husband, Clifford Peter Loewen. They married on November 7th, 1942 in Langdon, ND. A long and happy match ensued, abundant in love, admiration and devotion. When Clifford passed away on April 29th, 2005, they were still the best of friends. Together, Hilda and Clifford raised three girls, Joyce Balde, Judy Brotz and Jolene Gordanier. Family meant everything to Hilda, and she often commented on how blessed she was to have her loved ones ever present in her life. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Hilda was an active and life-long member of Fountain Park United Methodist Church and the Ladies Aid, the Prayer Chain and often helped with funeral luncheons. She enjoyed making quilts with her quilting group as well as, feeding wild birds, camping and many outdoor activities. Hilda's three children who survive her and will joyfully hold her memory forever in their hearts are; Joyce (and Warren) Balde of Plymouth, WI, Judy Brotz of Elkhart Lake, WI, and Jolene (and James) Gordanier of Plymouth, WI. Nine beloved grandchildren include; Timothy Balde and Ruth (and Robert) Williams (children of Joyce and Warren Balde), Lisa Brotz and Clinton Brotz (children of Judy Brotz) and Nicki (and Daniel) Martin, Dennis Gordanier Jr., Jennifer Ninmer, Jackie Gordanier and Kristen Gordanier (children of Jolene and James Gordanier). Many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also brought much love and happiness to Hilda. A celebration of Hilda's life will take place on Saturday, May 25th. Friends may call on the family at Fountain Park United Methodist Church, 828 Erie Avenue, Sheboygan WI from 11:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm.
