Harry H. Nussberger, 88, of Sheboygan, passed away Friday morning, January 23, 2015 at Harmony House where he had been residing. Born May 21, 1926 in Durand, WI, Harry was a son of the late Andrew and Agnes Boehm Nussberger. He attended area schools and graduated from Durand High School. He went on to serve his country during W.W.II from 1944 to 1946 in the U.S. Army. Upon returning from the service, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from the U.W. Eau Claire. On June 18, 1960, he was united in marriage to Alice M. Flom at St. Rose Catholic Church in Milwaukee. They were married for 51 years before Alice preceded him in death on March 25, 2011. Harry was the Job Service Director for the State of Wisconsin for 35 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church and the Sheboygan Elks Lodge 299 where he bowled on the Wednesday night league. He was an active member of the Sheboygan Area Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Sheboygan Personnel Association and a member of the Private Industry Council. He and Alice enjoyed traveling, extensively in the South and West but his greatest joy was the time he spent with his grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Julie (Edward Alt) Nussberger, Milwaukee; his son, Jim (Laurie) Nussberger, Sheboygan; two grandchildren, Mitchell and Samantha Nussberger, Sheboygan; his brother Arthur (Roseanne) Nussberger, Riverside, CA; his brothers-in-law, Jack Flom, Justice IL, and Walter Flom, Peshtigo; and a sister-in-law, Leona Flom, Muskego; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Besides his parents and his wife Alice, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Adeline Maguire and Ruth Dryer; and four brothers, Andrew, Donald, Ronald and Hubert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 807 Superior Avenue. The Rev. Matthew Widder, pastor, will celebrate the Mass. Family and friends are welcome at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue on Monday, January 26, 2015, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again at the church on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of Mass. Entombment will take place in the Chapel of Eternal Light Mausoleum with full Military Honors. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
